End the Targeting of Translators and InterpretersRed T,  the International Association of Conference Interpreters (AIIC), the International Federation of Translators (FIT), the International Association of Professional Translators and Interpreters (IAPTI), Critical Link International (CLI) and the World Association of Sign Language Interpreters (WASLI) have started a petition to protect translators and interpreters around the world who have to put their life in danger in order to carry out their jobs.

Please join me and the other 30,000 supporters in this petition to try to ensure the appropriate international legislation is passed to protect translators and interpreters at risk.

You can read the letter to  UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, UN General Assembly President Mogens Lykketoft and the UN Security Council, as well as find more information about the petition here.

I’ve been actively studying the English language since the age of 5, when my mother decided that speaking English would be an asset for me in the future. I don’t think she anticipated how much of an asset and what an enormous part of my life it would turn into. I’m now a full time English-Spanish translator, editor and interpreter living in Wellington, New Zealand, blogging about languages, this beautiful profession and other such things at translationswitham.com.
